Have you ever seen that Will Ferrell movie Stranger Than Fiction? I've only seen it once but after watching that movie, I convinced myself that it was my life's mission to open a bakery. All of those wonderful treats, experimenting to come up with new recipes, having your own store. It sounded like the life. I forgot to factor in two things:
- I would weigh 800 pounds if I worked at/owned a bakery
- I cannot bake
I really can't. I like to bake but it rarely works out for me. It took me more than three years after getting married to successfully make a chocolate chip cookie that my husband would readily approve of. For three years he said "they're ok." I finally got that one figured out and have been so nervous to tweak the recipe at all. However, I recently have started baking with more wheat flour and adding things like flaxseed meal and wheat germ and Al asked me last time I made cookies "what are these flakey things in here? I don't like them." So much for trying to be healthier. : )
Today I felt like baking something yummy, but not necessarily sweet. When I was going through my bookmarked recipes, I came across
this one by Delia Creates. Homemade bread! Perfect.
Delishiosity!
