Tummy Time!

We tried out tummy time for the first time yesterday and Madi did pretty well. Everyone, including her doctor has remarked on how strong she is and I guess this picture is just further proof of that. :)

In other news, Jen came to visit last week. We had a great time being lazy, sitting on the couch, eating chocolate and watching Office and Big Bang Theory.I feel a little less guilty being so lazy when I'm not doing it by myself. She took some really cute pictures of Madi while she was here.

The ones I took are not so good.

Madi and Muddler have had some quality bonding time lately. Initially, Mud would sniff her but wouldn't let us put her next to him or lay by her but we had a few instances this last week that showed some improvement in their relationship.

Here's a bunch more random pictures that I just think are cute. Some are older than others.

Two Weeks!

Madi is two weeks old today! Since her cord fell out on Wednesday I gave her her first real bath this morning and she slept through it!!

She'd been awake most of the morning but fell asleep while I was getting the bath ready and didn't wake up until I took her out of the bathtub and she got cold. Once she was warmed up she zonked out again!

I love this picture of her little foot sticking out of the water.

My dad's cousin Julie and aunt Marilyn came to meet Madi today and while Julie was feeding her she held her own bottle! (mostly...)

And now she's proving she's her father's daughter by use of her tall finger...

She's Here!

Madison Lori Schaugaard was born Saturday, November 28 at 7:37 am after a quick labor. My water broke early, about 4:15 am so we headed to the hospital. Just a few hours and a failed epidural later, she was here! She weighs 7 lbs 11 oz and is 19 1/2 inches long. We brought her home yesterday to meet big brother Muddy and got a cute first family picture.

BIG BABY!

The doctor told me yesterday that she thinks our baby will be big... 9 lbs! She's five pounds already and I guess babies usually about double in weight between 32 and 40 weeks (I'm 32 weeks and 5 days). This baby is taking after her daddy (who was nine pounds) and not me (six- something).

30 weeks brings a surprise...

Only ten weeks to go! Actually, it's really about nine and a half. Since we're getting so close we decided it was probably time to finally get started on getting Maddie's room ready. We tore out the huge (and completely nonfunctional) built in to make some room and took the nasty wood paneling off the walls so we could paint. And we didn't like what we found underneath.

Eek! I think the pictures actually look worse than it does in real life. So we've changed back to our original plan of re-doing the whole room. Both of those walls are plaster and we've been wanting to frame and sheet rock them anyway so we'll just go ahead and do it now. It's a little more work and money than we were planning on for right now but I'm really excited. Maddie's going to have the nicest room in the house and it's going to look so good once it's finished!

Camping and Fun

A few weekends ago, I joined Allen and his family up at Fairview while they were deer hunting. I use the term "camping" loosely because we were actually staying at Art's cabin, which has running water and electricity (when the generator is running). I hadn't slept much that week so I spent the time catching up on some much needed R&R while the others did some hunting, four-wheeling, kayaking and fishing. I was boring and read a book. But I love being in the outdoors and especially love all the quaking aspen up at Fairview!

You can just barely see my baby bump in this picture if you look closely.

Don't worry... Allen doesn't usually look at me like this. This is his angry
face because he couldn't get the flag off of the four-wheeler.

UTAH- UTAH STATE GAME

Thursday night I went with mom, dad and Taylor to the first Ute football game of the season against Utah State. I've got to take advantage of the games before I get too big to go. It was already rather uncomfortable sitting in that chair all night long. But worth it to see the Utes win. Granted, I wish they'd won by a larger spread but we'll take what we can get with basically a brand new team.

I loved seeing all the little kids in their Ute gear. Can't wait to get Maddie in the little Ute football jersey I bought at a garage sale years ago and have been saving until now! It's bigger than I remembered... it will still be a while before it will fit.

Here's my little baby belly at 19 weeks. Sorry for the bad picture quality. Cell phone picture taken by myself in a mirror. Those never turn out too well.

And here's baby at 26 weeks. Don't think I'm wearing the same outfit because I don't have anything else to wear. It was for dramatic effect. And because nothing else was clean. I'm feeling way bigger than I did then but am constantly reminded of how far I have to go. Mostly that's a good thing, as I'm kind of in freak out mode. But I was looking at a friend's baby pictures today and was wishing that she were already here. Although, I think I'm going to miss the little "nudger's" presence (Twilight reference intended). She's really active and always lets me know she's still there, something I mostly don't mind. It does get a little uncomfortable at times but I think the Big Man knew that I'd need constant reassurance if I was gonna make it through this without too many major freak outs. I'll post more pictures in the weeks to come as I get as big as a house.
