Milestones

Within in the past week, Madi has reached a few significant (for me) milestones. The first:

Her first trip to Cabelas! Ok, maybe this one's not so important but it was fun.

We tested out this cool cot/tent thing. I think Madi liked it.

Other more serious milestones. Madi giggled for real for the first time on Tuesday. She'd actually had a pretty bad afternoon/evening (for her, so still not too bad) but after I got her home from my mom's she was really happy and actually giggled! I got some of the half-giggles on video but don't know how to post video yet so if/when I figure it out I've got a few to put up.

Second milestone, which I'm sure is just a fluke but still makes me excited... Madi slept through the night two nights in a row! She'd never done that before. Tuesday night she didn't eat very well at her last feeding so I was expecting to be woken up in just a few hours. The dog woke me up at about five and I panicked that she hadn't gotten up yet and went in to check on her. She was fine, just asleep with her fingers in her mouth. I actually think that's why she's been able to sleep through the night. She's recently discovered (and LOVES) her fingers and so she can now soothe herself back to sleep if she wakes up during the night. I had Wednesday off so we were able to sleep in and Madi didn't wake up until 8! She slept for ten hours! Wed night Allen and I went to the Fly Fishing Film Tour in Salt Lake and didn't get back til late so Madison didn't eat for the last time until 11 but once again she slept the whole night and didn't wake up until her normal breakfast time at 7! What a big girl! I don't expect it will continue, at least not right now. But I'll take the extra sleep when I can get it!

Poor Sick Baby

Poor Madison has been fighting a cold since about Thursday. Saturday she was sitting with me while I ate my breakfast and fell asleep just the way she was.
While things have been a little crazy and more demanding while she's been sick, it really makes me realize that I have just about the best baby in the world. She is still mostly happy and even though she's crying more it's still not very much. Kayla was home this weekend and when Madison cried she said "I've never heard her cry before!" That's how awesome Madi is.
Madi likes to be undressed so she can kick and play unhindered by clothing. I'm sure she'd love some more time completely naked, but mom doesn't want her to pee everywhere so she usually still has a diaper on.
She's worn a couple cute Valentines-y outfits this week. Unfortunately, I only got a picture of this one.
But daddy prefers this outfit because it doesn't have any pink on it!
In Madi's room, we have my grandmother's old rocking chair. It's not really "old", it's the one she rocked her grandbabies in, not her babies. My parents got it when she died and they've loaned it to me for the time being. I love being able to use Grandma Joanie's rocking chair. It makes me think about her almost everyday. Here's Madi sitting in Grandma's rocking chair, watching her dad and grandpa put up the new shelves in her bedroom. I'll have to get some nursery pictures up soon so you can see them.

Gangsta Baby

I've been waiting for this adorable outfit to fit and this week... TaDa! Madi seemed to like the little hood. The fleece is really soft too,
During my day off this week we had a little mommy daughter bonding time-- a manicure!

Her daddy wasn't too thrilled about it but too bad.
Thursday I made myself some dinner while Allen was at school and Madi and I sat down on the couch to watch Bones and she kicked my soda over. So i hastily propped her in the corner of the couch and went to get a towel and to change my now mountain dew-soaked pants and when I came back she looked like this.
Whoops! Guess I didn't do a very good job of wedging her in there. And, I know, I'm a horrible mom for taking a picture before sitting her back up.
