Can you believe it? The end is in sight!
Which is a good thing and a bad thing.
Good thing:
A baby!
Not being pregnant anymore
That means summer is here!
Bad thing:
GRE test before baby is born (EEEEEEEEKK!)
Not ready
I really haven't felt like there was much to get ready this time around because we already have everything we need. But I went shopping with my mom today (looking for a dress for my SIL's wedding) and when she asked if I had newborn onesies, I had no idea! (Turns out I had exactly 5.) I guess there are a few things I need to do to prepare. I have been feeling a little bit of the nesting bug lately, which is good for organizing but doesn't help me want to clean my house at all.
I know this picture is super corny but this is the best looking belly out of all of the pictures we took the other day. Turns out my belly is in a kinda funny-shaped phase at the moment. Not so flattering.
Also, I was told yesterday it "looks like I ate a watermelon seed." Can I ask, is this not super rude?
I know there are some very well meaning people who think they are being funny when they make these types of remarks. And if you are one of them, I'm sorry to break it to you- it's rude. It's rude to tell a pregnant woman she looks like she has a basketball under her shirt (remember that gem, Kate?)
I can understand just a teeny bit more when it's a man who says it (as in the first remark) because he's never been pregnant and dealt with the body issues that come with growing a human being inside of you. But when a woman says it? Even if this woman has never been pregnant, she should know that it's really hurtful to the ol' self esteem to have someone tell you you look huge. Just saying.
There's my preggo rant for the week. Sorry if I lost some readers. When I complained about this to my hubby last night he said he would add the above phrases to his repertoire. Nice.

Yes! I totally agree with you it is rude to tell a pregnant woman she is huge! I totally thought it wouldn't bug me, but I got comments all the time about how huge I was and how I looked like I was ready to pop at any minute, etc. and it got really old, really fast.
I am completely with you Amy, it is rude! Why do people think that is an okay thing to tell someone? As if we didn't already know we were getting rather large, haha! I didn't let it bother me, but you are right Jess, it does get really old, really fast. I was told multiple times I had a basketball under my shirt and that it looked like I was ready to pop any minute (when I was only 7 months along). On my first day of work, the first thing my supervisor said to me was "you are huge! I didn't remember you looking this big the last time I saw you". Thank you??!!?? What do you respond back? I also love how they always laugh after they say it, like it's supposed to be a joke?
haha, i love it all! I also got the "your huge" thing starting at about 6 months (i didn't mind at first but after several months it gets really old...) but I think my favorite was several times I was told it looked like I had a giant pumpkin in my stomach. I think I would have preferred basketball at that point! ;) but Amy it's funny you wrote about it because the first thing I thought when I saw the picture was "she looks to tiny for 31 weeks!" plus I love your hair short and curly... kind of makes me want to cut mine. Anyways Good luck getting through the next 9 weeks, you can do it!
Yay for being almost done!!! I totally agree, it was rude! I'm so emotional lately, that the smallest thing sets me off, if anyone said something like that to me I would probably punch them! Not suggesting that's a good action to take...
